Got caught downloading from torrent sites. What am I able to do now?
I was downloading from torrent sites like kickasstorrents and picktorrent for the longest time without a problem until recently. I was downloading like normal and all of a sudden had my internet shut down from my ISP. (I had to call and say I would not do it again to get it turned back on) I still want to download but can not as I am being monitored at the moment. Will they stop monitoring me soon? How does the monitoring work? Is this through the IP address? My modem? Will I ever be able to download again? If I were to shut down the service and have it reset in my husbands name would that make any difference?
What is a VPN?
VPN's (Virtual Private Network's) were first used by companies to enable their employees to securely access internal systems such as email remotely (e.g. from home or while on business trips). Today they are increasingly being used for personal use by individuals to protect their privacy while online in public places (e.g. when using the wi-fi connection in a cafe) or in a country where the internet is censored / blocked (e.g. China, Saudi Arabia…).
Why do I need a VPN?
Whether you're an expat living in a foreign country where the internet is heavily regulated, a mobile user constantly on the road, or just someone concerned with maintaining their privacy online, having a VPN is becoming essential.
